On 14 October 2026, the Court of Final Appeal handed down reasons dismissing the appeal in China Properties Group Limited v JIC Trust Co., Ltd [2026] HKCFA 34, without calling on the respondent. Mr Laurence Li SC, Mr Keith Chan and Mr Jonathan Fung, instructed by YTL LLP, acted for the successful petitioner.
On 8 October 2026, the Court of Appeal (Chu VP, Barma and G Lam JJA) handed down judgment in Chan Pui Sze and Mak Hau Yin (as Trustees of the Bankrupt) v Wang Jue [2026] HKCA 1776, dismissing the Trustees' appeal and upholding Cheng J's dismissal of their claim at [2024] HKCFI 2491. Mr José-Antonio Maurellet SC (with Mr Jason Yu and Mr Charlie Liu), instructed by Messrs LCP, acted for the successful Defendant.
On 21 September 2026, the Court of Appeal (Barma VP, G Lam and Chow JJA) allowed the appeals in CACV 190 & 191/2025 by Wong Po Kee Limited, Pyrofoe Engineers Limited and Keio Engineering Company Limited against the order of Deputy High Court Judge Maria Yuen dated 17 March 2025. Mr Jonathan Chang SC acted for the 1st and 2nd Respondents, and Mr Jason Wong for the 3rd Respondent. Ms Audrey Eu SC led Mr John Hui for the Liquidators.
On 21 July 2026, Linda Chan J in the Court of First Instance handed down judgment in HCMP 108/2026, Re China Changbaishan International Holdings Ltd [2026] HKCFI 5285, sanctioning the scheme of arrangement between the Bermuda-incorporated, SEHK-listed company (stock code 989) and its 27 Scheme Creditors with total claims of HK$711.37 million. Mr Michael Lok (with Ms Jasmine Cheung and Mr Matthew Suen) of CLKW Lawyers LLP acted for the Company.
On 15 September 2026, Deputy High Court Judge Cooper, KC handed down judgment in Re Success Lane Developments Ltd (HCCW 3/2025), dismissing a series of applications by the Company's former directors in the course of its winding-up and granting a Restricted Application Order against one of them. Mr Kurt Ng, instructed by Ho & Partners, acted for the Provisional Liquidators.
On 14 September 2026, the Court of Appeal (Chow and Anthony Chan JJA and Ng J) handed down judgment in Yung Man Tung v Ashurst Hong Kong (CACV 162/2025), dismissing the applicant's appeal against Deputy High Court Judge Kent Yee's order refusing to set aside a statutory demand and authorising a bankruptcy petition. Ms Jasmine Cheung, instructed by Ashurst Perkins Coie Hong Kong, acted for the successful respondent.
On 16 July 2026, the Court of First Instance handed down judgment in HCMP 1105/2026, Re Forever Winner International Limited (in liquidation), granting recognition and assistance to the joint liquidators appointed by the BVI Court. On 12 August 2026, the Court of First Instance (Linda Chan J) handed down judgment in HCMP 990/2026, Joint Liquidators of Bank of Asia (BVI) Ltd (in liquidation) v. Axiom Financial Group Ltd, granting the JLs' originating summons in full. Ms Natalie Lam of Tanner De Witt acted for the JLs. The Defendant did not appear.
On 12 August 2026, the Court of Appeal (Au and Chow JJA) dismissed the 1st Defendant's renewed application for leave to appeal in CAMP 260/2025, refusing to disturb Deputy High Court Judge Gary CC Lam's decision declining to strike out the liquidators' unfair preference claim. Mr Bernard Man SC (leading Mr Danny Tang, instructed by DLA Piper Hong Kong) acted for the successful Plaintiffs.
The Court of Appeal (Chow and Yeung JJA) has dismissed Mr Lok Ho Ting's renewed application for a stay of execution pending his appeal against an order refusing to set aside a statutory demand dated 9 November 2023.
