On 7 February 2003, the applicant was convicted after trial in the District Court by Deputy Judge Tong Man of two offences of dealing with property known or believed to represent the proceeds of an indictable offence and two offences of possessing unlawfully obtained travel documents. He did not give evidence, or call witnesses, in his defence at trial.
