On 14 October 2026, the Court of Final Appeal handed down reasons dismissing the appeal in China Properties Group Limited v JIC Trust Co., Ltd [2026] HKCFA 34, without calling on the respondent. On 14 October 2026, the Court of Final Appeal handed down judgment in Ho Kong, The Sole Executor of the Estate of Fong Mi Yee Deceased v Director of Lands [2026] HKCFA 35, dismissing the Director's appeal and confirming that the holder of an absolute possessory title qualifies as an "owner" eligible for the Home Purchase Allowance (HPA) under the Government's resumption compensation policy. Mr Adrian Lai and Mr Han Sheng Lim, instructed by Chak & Associates LLP, acted for the successful respondent.
On 12 October 2026, Deputy District Judge Mr Wong Chi-cheung (黃士翔) handed down judgment in HKSAR v 劉偉娟及另四人 DCCC 341/2024 [2026] HKDC 1889, convicting the third and fourth defendants of attempted fraud under the Anti-epidemic Fund's Retail Sector Subsidy Scheme, while acquitting the first, second, and fifth defendants' co-accused on the same scheme. Mr Ha Kwan-ting (夏焜亭) and Mr Sin Wai-sham (單偉琛) appeared for the prosecution.
On 13 October 2026, the Court of Final Appeal (Chief Justice Cheung, Ribeiro PJ, Fok PJ, Lam PJ and Keane NPJ) allowed the appeal in _ANZ Commodity Trading Pty Ltd v Excellence Raise Overseas Limited_ [2026] HKCFA 32, setting aside the Court of Appeal judgment that had upheld constructive trust declarations against three companies in the "JC Camp". Mr Victor Joffe SC, instructed by Myra Li & Co, acted for the successful appellants.
On 8 October 2026, the Court of Appeal (Chu VP, Barma and G Lam JJA) handed down judgment in Chan Pui Sze and Mak Hau Yin (as Trustees of the Bankrupt) v Wang Jue [2026] HKCA 1776, dismissing the Trustees' appeal and upholding Cheng J's dismissal of their claim at [2024] HKCFI 2491. Mr José-Antonio Maurellet SC (with Mr Jason Yu and Mr Charlie Liu), instructed by Messrs LCP, acted for the successful Defendant.
On 8 October 2026, Deputy High Court Judge Jonathan Wong handed down judgment in Ocean System Ltd v MTR Corporation Ltd [2026] HKCFI 5668, giving mixed rulings on two case-management applications arising from an alleged HVAC nuisance at Admirality Centre. On 12 October 2026, the Court of Appeal (Au JA, with Barma JA concurring) handed down its decision in Re Sunni International Ltd [2026] HKCA 1789, varying the costs order nisi it had earlier made in Lo's favour on his successful extension of time application. On 9 October 2026, the Court of Appeal (Pang JA, Yeung JA and Cheung J) handed down judgment in CACC 12/2023 and CACC 29/2023, [2026] HKCA 1775, dismissing the Secretary for Justice's case-stated appeal against the acquittals of Lam Cheuk Ting (D1), Tsang Chun Hei Ronnie (D3) and Chung Hoi Yin Aggie (D4), but partially allowing the HKSAR's costs appeal. Mr Shum Shi Man acted for D1; Mr Wong Yu Yat acted for D4; D3 appeared in person. Assistant DPP Cheung Cheuk Kun appeared for the Secretary for Justice.
On 29 September 2026, the Court of Appeal (Kwan VP and Chow JA) handed down judgment in _Ranjit Bipana v Torture Claims Appeal Board / Non-refoulement Claims Petition Office_ [2026] HKCA 1754, allowing the appeal of the 2nd and 3rd applicants and dismissing the 1st applicant's appeal. Mr Jeffrey Tam, instructed by Daly & Associates and assigned by the Director of Legal Aid, acted for the appellants.
On 4 September 2026, Master G.T. Lung in the District Court Family Court handed down judgment in _LHB v ZCZ_ [2026] HKFC 190, dismissing the wife's application to stay the Hong Kong divorce proceedings on forum non conveniens grounds.
