On 6 October 2026, Mr Justice Li Wan-tang in the Court of First Instance handed down judgment in HKSAR v Tong Ho-yuen [2026] HKCA 1790, granting the applicant leave to appeal against sentence. Mr Li Cho-yee, instructed by the Legal Aid Department, acted for the applicant; the respondent was represented by Senior Public Prosecutor Ms Lee Sze-yin.

On 7 October 2026, Deputy High Court Judge Levy granted leave to apply for judicial review in _KP v Torture Claims Appeal Board / Non-Refoulement Claims Petition Office_ HCAL 2387/2020 [2026] HKCFI 5434, finding the applicant's challenges to the Board's dismissal of his non-refoulement claim to be reasonably arguable. Ms Samantha Lau acted for the successful applicant, who was granted anonymity.
On 2 October 2026, Deputy District Judge Siu Chiu-kin handed down judgment in _Fung Kung Kuen & 2 Ors v IP Woon Shun, the administrator of the estate of Fung Ching Jess (deceased) & Anor_, DCCJ 4067/2019, [2026] HKDC 1806, finding in favour of the three plaintiffs on their claim to a one-quarter beneficial interest each in Flat D, 33/F, Block 1, Grand Horizon (海欣花園), 11 Cheung Wan Street, Tsing Yi (the "Tsing Yi Property"). The plaintiffs, who acted in person, succeeded against the second defendant (Micky Ren), the widower of the deceased Fung Ching Jess, who also acted in person. The first defendant, the estate administrator, was represented by Ko & Ip and took a neutral stance throughout.
On 2 October 2026, Deputy District Judge Patrick Siu handed down judgment in Chow Tai Fook Life Insurance Co Ltd v Luk Kin Hang [2026] HKDC 1755, allowing the insurer's claim to claw back HK$1,356,009.36 in conditional performance bonuses from its former agent. Mr Jeffrey Lee, instructed by Messrs Kennedys, acted for the successful Plaintiff.
On 30 September 2026, Deputy High Court Judge Andrew Li handed down judgment in _Force Field Limited v Top One Global Holdings Ltd & Anor_ and the related _Top One Global Holdings Ltd v Su Da & Anor_ [2026] HKCFI 5340, two actions heard together arising from the 2016 sale of 19.8% of Ernest Borel Holdings Limited (Stock Code: 1856) for HK$154.8 million. Mr Vincent Lung, instructed by Lennon & Lawyers, acted for Force Field and Su Da.
On 3 September 2026, the Court of Appeal (Poon CJHC and Pang JA) handed down judgment in HKSAR v CHEUNG HO YEUNG [2026] HKCA 1755, allowing the applicant's appeal against sentence and reducing his term from 6 years to 5 years 4 months. Ms Virginia Lau, instructed by Chiu, Szeto & Cheng and assigned by the Director of Legal Aid, acted for the applicant.
On 2 October 2026, the Court of Appeal (Au and Coleman JJA) handed down judgment in Borrelli v Linklaters [2026] HKCA 1731, granting in part CNG's application for a stay of execution pending appeal. On 28 September 2026, Deputy High Court Judge Cheung Kit-yi handed down judgment in HKSAR v Yeung Mang-hei (HCMA 186/2025), dismissing the appellant's appeals against both conviction and sentence for two counts of outraging modesty under section 122(1) of the Crimes Ordinance. The respondent was represented by Senior Public Prosecutor Cheng Wing-yu; the appellant by Senior Counsel Tse Chi-ho and Wong Wing-man, instructed by Cheung Liu & Co.
On 25 September 2026, Deputy High Court Judge Wilken KC handed down judgment in Wong Tak Keung Stanley and Another v The Incorporated Owners of Grenville House (HCA 761/2022, [2026] HKCFI 5470), a bitterly contested dispute over water ingress, gas supply and a renovation deposit at the penthouse of Block CD, Grenville House, Mid-Levels. The trial ran from 7 to 16 September 2026 with live transcript and e-bundle. Mr Wong Tak Keung Stanley and Ms Claudia Canepa Wong were represented by Bernard Man SC with Shaun Elijah Tan of Jones Day.
