On 3 September 2026, the Court of Appeal (Poon CJHC and Pang JA) handed down judgment in HKSAR v CHEUNG HO YEUNG [2026] HKCA 1755, allowing the applicant's appeal against sentence and reducing his term from 6 years to 5 years 4 months. Ms Virginia Lau, instructed by Chiu, Szeto & Cheng and assigned by the Director of Legal Aid, acted for the applicant.
On 18 September 2026, the Court of Appeal handed down judgment in HKSAR v Siu Hon Fai (CACC 218/2024), allowing the appellant's appeal against sentence to the extent of reducing his total sentence from 19 years and 4 months to 17 years and 4 months' imprisonment. Ms Catherine Fung, instructed by K W Wong & Co on a pro bono basis, acted for the successful appellant.
On 5 August 2026, D'Almada Remedios J handed down reasons for sentence in HKSAR v. L.S.T., HCCC 318/2024, [2026] HKCFI 4451, sentencing the defendant to 22 years' imprisonment for the manslaughter by gross negligence and cruelty of her five-year-old son Z. Mr Ng Wing-kit, SPP, appeared for the prosecution; Mr David Boyton (instructed by King & Co., assigned by DLA) acted for the defendant.
