1. Three times between 2010 and 2018, the appellant was tried and convicted after trial of murdering his cohabitee Madam Yeung Sau Yu on 12 September 2009. On each occasion, the conviction was overturned on appeal – twice by the Court of Appeal [1] and once by this Court [2] (reversing the Court of Appeal’s dismissal of the appellant’s application for leave to appeal [3] ) – and a retrial was ordered. This appeal arose out of the last conviction of the appellant for murder on 26 April 2018. T
