1. In order to provide protection against secondhand smoking in indoor workplaces and public places, the Legislature made it a criminal offence to smoke or carry a lighted cigarette, cigar or pipe in no smoking areas. The no smoking areas designated by the legislation include an indoor area in any restaurant premises.
